October 8, 2026
The public life of Forever Ago, from the first screenshot to the 8 October 2026 launch, with the release-date trailer.

Six years between trailers
In 2020 the game appeared in Screenshot Saturday on 19 April, then had a 5 August debut that aimed at a PC release the following year. The next dated burst is 26 March 2026, when Kai called the new trailer the first in six years and said the game was coming this Fall, for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC.
Before launch, Forever Ago was playable as a prerelease Steam Deck build, aimed at 8 October on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. The day locked in June, and the day the game shipped, is 8 October 2026.
The 8 October trailer is the date trailer, and it stays paused until you press play. The launch trailer is a second video. Their YouTube ids are AeHgQ29sukE for the launch trailer and Je5Ezf07k0A for the date trailer.
The PC build asks for Windows 10 at minimum and Windows 11 as the recommendation, and the yen price is 2,300 yen, discounted to 2,070 yen. The 29 achievements each carry an unlock rate. The dates run from a first screenshot, through a debut, a fall window, a locked day, and the launch.
After the date
On 8 October 2026 the launch is about Alfred's memories in the Pacific Northwest and the Forever Ago x Outbound bundle. Outbound is the other van-life game in that bundle. The bundle is a package of two games, not a new achievement.
The debut is out now. The official site still says Coming October 8, 2026, even though the game launched on that day.
The snowy scene shows Alfred from behind in a pine valley. You Can’t Plan Life is the mountain story marker, at 15.2 percent, and it has no public hint. The snow in the picture is a place on the trip, not a numbered step for that marker.
The six story names are the chapter markers. The camera goals are the photo counts, the vignettes, and the rest stops. The PC columns are Windows 10 against Windows 11. The dates run from April 2020 to October 2026.
The gap from the August 2020 debut to March 2026 is the long quiet stretch. Kai called the March trailer the first in six years. In June the fall window became the single day 8 October 2026, and 8 October 2026 is the launch, with the limited-time discount and the Outbound bundle.
Before launch the game was played on a prerelease Steam Deck build, with a planned lineup of Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. March was the fall window. June locked the day. October put Alfred on the road in the Pacific Northwest, and the game is out now.
