Six story achievements mark Alfred's trip, ordered here from the most common unlock toward the rarer ones.
Six public markers
Six achievements mark the trip, in this order: Before I Forget Myself, Trip’s Cancelled, Back On The Road, Have a Swantastic Day, Alright, First Coffee, and You Can’t Plan Life. Their tracking ids are ACH STORY GAS CHAPTER, ACH STORY DINER CHAPTER, ACH STORY SAM CHAPTER, ACH STORY RESORT CHAPTER, ACH STORY COAST CHAPTER, and ACH STORY MOUNTAIN CHAPTER.
Those ids name chapters: gas, diner, Sam, resort, coast, and mountain. They are not a written route, and none of the six has a public hint. What you get is the name and how many players have it. The unlocks fall from 65 percent, to 39.5, to 28.6, to 19.7, to 16.3, to 15.2.
The story is about broken dreams, loss, and regret, and also courage, hope, and true friendship. Voice actors play the people Alfred meets. You live a lifetime with Audrey, his sweetheart, and that love transcends time. At launch he is traveling through memories in the Pacific Northwest.
One scene from the trip shows two hikers crossing a log over a forest creek, among pink flowers and pines. Forest trails are part of the road north, alongside the dusty desert barrens. Alfred drives an orange-and-white van with the plate 4VR AGO, and the dog from the campfire art is the same animal later tied to What's In A Name.
How to use the markers
What's In A Name is also a story achievement, tracking id ACH STORY NAME DOGGO, at 18.6 percent. On the rate list it sits between Have a Swantastic Day at 19.7 percent and Shopaholic at 17.4 percent. It is about naming Doggo, and it is not a numbered marker.
Do not treat a chapter id as a solved puzzle. Gas, diner, Sam, resort, coast, and mountain are the words inside the ids. You still have to find those moments on the trip. A global percent only says how many players currently have that achievement.
Back On The Road is the third marker, even though the title sounds like a start. Alright, First Coffee is the fifth. You Can’t Plan Life is the sixth and the rarest of the six, at 15.2 percent. Before I Forget Myself remains the most common achievement in the whole set of 29, at 65 percent.
The other achievements split into camera goals and roadside names. The camera goals are a first vignette, every vignette, 25 photos, 50 photos, every rest stop, and the two selfie names Chrono Selfie and Self-Portrait Photography. The dated life of the game runs from a 19 April 2020 public screenshot, through an August 2020 debut that aimed at a PC release the following year, a March 2026 fall window, a 7 June 2026 lock to 8 October 2026, and the launch itself.
- Before I Forget Myself
Before I Forget Myself is story marker 1 and the most common achievement in the game, at 65 percent. Its tracking id is ACH STORY GAS CHAPTER. The gas-chapter name has no public hint, so the 65 percent unlock is the clue.
- Trip’s Cancelled
Trip’s Cancelled is story marker 2, at 39.5 percent. Its tracking id is ACH STORY DINER CHAPTER. The diner-chapter name has no public hint, so the 39.5 percent unlock is the clue.
- Back On The Road
Back On The Road is story marker 3, at 28.6 percent, not the start of the trip. Its tracking id is ACH STORY SAM CHAPTER. It has no public hint.
- Have a Swantastic Day
Have a Swantastic Day is story marker 4, at 19.7 percent. Its tracking id is ACH STORY RESORT CHAPTER. It has no public hint.
- Alright, First Coffee
Alright, First Coffee is story marker 5, at 16.3 percent. Its tracking id is ACH STORY COAST CHAPTER. It has no public hint.
- You Can’t Plan Life
You Can’t Plan Life is story marker 6 and the rarest of the six, at 15.2 percent. Its tracking id is ACH STORY MOUNTAIN CHAPTER. It has no public hint.
